A lot of us here really like cars and the automotive world. This thread is for sharing pics of cars you like or dislike. Cool cars, ugly cars, sexy cars, whatever. So, if your friends have some cool cars, or you've recently been to a car show or meet, or just want to talk about cars in general, feel free to do so here. That way the "Pictures of YOUR car" ( thread can continue to be where people post their own personal cars, and this thread will be for all the other stuff.

    I'll start...

The new BMW M5 Concept was revealed today. Like many of BMW's concepts, though, the real car will look very similar to this when revealed. I love the look of the new F10 5-series, and this new M version is even better. Great looking, as usual from the M Division...

Also, Pagani has recently revealed the car that will replace the aging Zonda. That was an utterly amazing car, so it will take a lot to top that. With the new Huayra, though, it seems as though they did. Not quite as flamboyant and wild as the Zonda, but hardly any less sexy. This is a SPECTACULAR looking car, and the interior is possibly my favorite on any road car, EVER!! Amazing....

I think that is more proof of the fact that it was never a bug. Apple was doing it that way on purpose and the only reason they are claiming it was a "bug" is because they got caught big time.

The lie is the fact that it is a bug. It was done on propose and right now Apple is just doing CYA.

Given that the database is a local cache of some information that already exists on Apple's servers, what do Apple have to gain by designing it this way on purpose? Nothing.

The data in the file is not generated by the phone, it is retrieved from Apple and stored.

My first mac had 1.2 GB Hard drive. The Power Mac 7500

That's a huge amount of storage. For my Mac Plus, I purchased a 20 MB SuperMac DataFrame external hard drive. Very cheap, too. It only cost me about $600. It took almost a year to fill it with basically games, clip art and Illustrator files.

Resizable textarea's have been implemented in WebKit nightlies for a few months now but were turned off by default at some point.

For this to be included in a front page news item when its been publicly available for months is ludicrous.

Yeah, there haven't been any Page 2 rumors recently, either. At least half the stuff from the past 2 weeks should be there instead.

I assume you have this box checked:

Yep. I sure do. Does it work for you? I've heard it works for Apple TV and other computers but when it comes to iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch it doesn't.

I got a Power Mac G5 as an early gift from my mom a week and a half ago. Been loving it since. I also got a thing of Danish butter cookies and an Old Wisconsin meat sampler.

Dear old Mommy got a pack of smokes, a thing of Maxwell House coffee, and a box of Whitman's chocolates. The smokes and coffee she actually asked for. Chocolates were my idea.

This is the issue with a yearly product cycle. People begin to understand when that cycle starts over, avoid new purchases of the product, and even tell their friends and family to not buy right now.

You're right, remember the whole 3gs thing after the iPhone 4 was leaked? Sales fell through the floor cuz everyone just wanted the 4 and they knew it'd be releases really soon thanks to the release cycle.

Which is kind of hard on such a restricted and limited platform. There would be more useful software for the iPad if it ran a 'real' operating system like Mac OS X -- meaning full file system access and not being tied into ONE App Store with arbitrary rules for what a program is allowed to do.

Curious. Do you pronounce your name WHINEY? :D

I was hoping the new web version would have a spam filter or domain blocker but I don't see it mentioned in the ad.

.Mac webmail seems to be down again.
Could the update finally be happening??

    I prefer to opt-in instead of opt-out.

Sure. If that's what it takes, let's uncheck the box by default and let Apple provide the info to the publishers.

Philalbe, based on what you've said, he sounds like someone you really don't want to be doing business with. In the end, the pay would have to be a lot better than that for it to be worth all the stress.

If I can offer you just a little bit of advice, having run my own business for quite a number of years, it would be this Firstly, you're charging WAY too little. I did too when I started out. That's why this guy back-pedalled IMO, not because he's a nice guy, but because he realises that no one else will do the quality of work you're doing at this price. I could be wrong, but he sounds like some people I've seen before. He knows you're a bit green in business, and he'll take advantage of it to save every penny he can, hence the line that 3 hours is all he can afford. You have to be confident in your service and your prices and set them accordingly. If he values the service you offer, he will pay the price. If not, he'll go in search of the next person gullible enough to pay what he's offering, and he will. This kind of person places no value in establishing long-term business relationships and he offers very little value to you and your business.

I know you're only starting out and you're keen to get any work you can, but in the long term it's going to bite you because a lot of the customers you're establishing now at this price are going to start taking it for granted. I don't know what the going rates are in your area, but you need to find out. I'll bet you people are charging upwards of 4 or 5 times that amount.

    Good luck! :)

ok, i got a new m100 bt earpiece (i swear, i ONLY use it when i'm at my desk; never on the street LOL).

it automatically put a battery icon on my status bar. am it coming from the earpiece itself? it's only there (of course) when the m100 is connected.

any way to hide/disable/kill it? i don't understand how it gets there (so can't figure out how to remove it).

thanx, am scratching my head...

    One of the patents:
Mobile telephone capable of displaying world time and method for controlling the same

An apparatus and method for calculating and displaying local time for a plurality of cities in the world. The apparatus includes a memory for storing Greenwich mean time (GMT) information for each of the plurality of cities. The apparatus sets a reference time and counts the time that elapses from when the reference time is set. The apparatus calculates a local time of a city selected by a user, which is based on a difference between the GMT of the selected city and the GMT of a present location of the apparatus, the reference time and the counted elapsed time. The reference time may be either a time set by the user or a system time acquired from a signal generated from a remote system.
How can companies get patents for such trivial algorithms???

This surely has been covered by other manufacturers years before Samsung ever started making devices? What about the Newton? Seems a bit of a weak claim and surprising that they would have been granted a patent.

    Mar 25, 11:26 AM (

As noticed by 9 to 5 Mac (, Apple has posted a new job listing ( for an iOS Maps Application Developer who can help "radically improve" the Maps application and other location-based services. The posting is reminiscent of a late 2009 ( job listing looking for a candidate to help "take Maps to the next level". Apple has also beefed up its maps, navigation and location-based services capabilities with the acquisition of Placebase ( and Poly9 ( over the past couple of years. Combining those acquisitions with the moving of location services in-house ( last year and other job postings ( for navigation-related positions, it certainly appears that Apple is making a full-scale push into the area.

From the very beginning, Apple has relied on Google's technology for maps and location-based services on iOS devices. But as relations between the two companies have soured among increasing competitiveness in mobile devices, Apple is clearly trying to distance itself from Google somewhat by developing its own unique offerings.

Article Link: Apple Still Seeking to 'Radically Improve' Maps for iOS (

I seriously had a dream last night that maps was updated to 3D and you could use the gyroscope etc to fly through optional routes before chosing which one to take ahha.

Thank you, Apple, for weeding out the companies whose business model depends on selling my information to junk-mailers.

This is the kind of 'crazy-Steve-Jobs-control' I can live with.

I agree wholeheartedly. Despite the fact that I work for the same company that owns the FT, I am disgusted by this reasoning. I definitely won't be subscribing to the pink paper any time soon.
